Sloan Built recently delivered a design and construct project in Port Melbourne, successfully converting a former storage warehouse into a premium office and showroom space for Porsche. The transformation required significant planning and coordination, as the change in building use triggered a broad range of compliance and infrastructure upgrades, including full DDA accessibility across all areas. Working closely with consultants and regulatory authorities, Sloan Built achieved a number of dispensations due to the site’s existing conditions, allowing for practical, compliant solutions within the constraints of the original structure.
Key works included the construction of a new lift shaft, creation of new facade openings, installation of upgraded electrical, hydraulic, and fire protection services, the fit out of eight Male/Female/DDA-compliant bathrooms, and the addition of a modern end-of-trip facility.
The result is a sophisticated and functional commercial space that meets the operational and branding needs of Porsche while navigating the complexities of adaptive reuse.

"Sloan Built stepped in during the early stages of the Port Melbourne conversion after the original builder went into liquidation, and immediately brought clarity, structure, and momentum to what had the potential to become a very difficult project. They picked up the pieces and carried the build through to practical completion, allowing us to move forward with leasing the space.
"Their knowledge and leadership — especially in coordinating consultants and navigating the complex compliance requirements of a change of use — were key to the project’s success. From DDA access to essential fire services upgrades, they handled each challenge with confidence and professionalism. We would now trust them with any of our developments, and this experience has naturally led to repeat work.
"They’re a team you want on your side."
